Careful Planters

Careful Planters is a theoretical organization targeting homeowners with an awareness campaign meant to inform about the harmful effects of urban planning guidelines which prefer male-only tree ecosystems. This excess of male trees started in the Midwest around 1989 when Dutch Elm Disease had wiped out most of the elms in the United States. They were then replaced using the updated guidelines, which avoided female trees for their production of litter such as seeds and fruits. An excess of male trees, however, leaves our urban landscapes with excess pollen, which affects our health. This awareness campaign is meant to scratch the surface of a larger issue encompassing global warming, human-made issues, and toxins.

Promoting Awareness

A full brand system with versatile logo usage was created for Careful Planters. This campaign also includes four main Instagram posts meant to inform people on the brand and the warning it represents. Next, a poster and two logo motion graphics were created for promotion of brand awareness. Infographic posters were then implemented to provide a more informational, text-heavy mode of awareness. Finally, informative motion graphics were designed to quickly animate core issues relating to the company's mission.

Awareness is meant to reduce amounts of pollen by encouraging homeowners to investigate how their own neighborhoods might compare. Allergy sufferers, who are especially affected in the spring and fall will see warmer and longer allergy seasons in the Midwest as well. Time is of the essence when it comes to reducing this potent, airborne nuisance whose affects range from runny noses to breathing issues such as allergic asthma. Homeowners can improve our overall health by encouraging biodiversity in the property they own as well as effecting urban guidelines with their knowledge and voice. Together we can plant carefully and improve our health through better urban landscaping.
